Giving to St Brigid's

St Brigid’s exists to worship God — Father, Son and Holy Spirit — and to spread the good news of salvation through faith in Jesus. We want to see lives transformed as more people put their trust in Jesus, grow to maturity, serve with love and persevere to the end.

To enable us in our mission, we rely on the generous grace-enabled giving of the congregation. This provides the majority of our income.

That means your giving directly influences the missional impact and financial viability of St Brigid’s church.

We published this booklet in 2023 to address our financial situation. Click the book to read it.

How to decide what to give

Hold on tight to God not money: 1 Timothy 6.17-19

'Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.'

Remember what Jesus gave for you: 2 Corinthians 8.9

'For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.'

Give first, then spend: 1 Corinthians 16:2

'On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money [to give] in keeping with your income...'

Be sacrificially generous: 2 Corinthians 8:2-3

'Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability.'

But what if I don't have much? 2 Corinthians 8.12

'For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have.'

To help Christians think more deeply about giving, the charity Stewardship has published a free guide to giving by John Stott called 'Money and the Gospel'. It is currently free to download here.

How will my money be spent?

Donations made to St Brigid's are used to to pay the staff, the bills and help fund our outreach and ministry. Some of it is also donated to other Christian organisations whose mission is consistent with ours.
